I always feel that introductions sound a little like an AA meeting, but I suppose they are a good way to start a blog.
My name is Janet Cooper and I graduated in 2014 with a BA (hons) in English and Creative Writing. I will be 31 years old next week and I am addicted to coffee!
I work part time as a self-employed tutor, and I am also a part time student studying for an MA in English Studies. I have recently been appointed in a voluntary position as Team Leader of the Copywriting Team, of a new publishing house called Spectral Visions Press. I feel it’s a little premature to call myself a blogger as although I have previously blogged, I still feel like a beginner. I do have a Wix website too, janetcoopercw.wix.com/janetcoopercw but I wanted this blog to be personal.
As well as working and studying, I am married with three children. The eldest is a girl aged 10 and I have two boys aged 8 and 4. It’s funny even though my life is settled by means of family, I am not a hundred percent sure what direction I want my career to head in. I suppose my aspirations are to do well in the MA so that I feel able to progress to the PHd, and then maybe a teaching qualification that is relevant to lecturing in further or higher education. I also have interests in working as a researcher and writer, or maybe in the editing and publishing industry.
I love to read and watch television and would say that my favourite programs are things linked with fantasy, sci-fi, gothic, and crime. My current programs include Grimm, The Following, Extant, The 100, Supernatural, and I do like the odd period drama like Mr Selfridge and Call the Midwife. I also watch a lot of paranormal programs too, as well as true crime and extreme weather documentaries. It’s fair to say my taste is varied. I am in between books at the moment as I start my new semester at University this week, and no doubt I will have less time for leisurely reading as I will focus on material for my course.
I would like this blog to be much more personal: about every day life, children, and family activities. One of my friends always comments that I could write a book about the funny things that happen in my life, like the embarrassing things that the children do or say, for instance.
I was planning on a themed post for Easter. I don’t know about you but my children get far too much chocolate, yet I don’t have loads of time to prepare and clean up after Easter activities, so I am planning to write an article about ‘cheap and cheerful gifts and things to do for Easter’. I think this could be really fun! What do you think?
Wish me luck, and hopefully you will follow me on my journey!
